And Now, The Winning Artwork!
Grand Prize Winner:
Grace Li, USA
“I am a 6th grader in Tyee Middle School. I have Studio Art class every day. This is my favorite class at school! When I was five or six, little green frogs were my favorite. I croaked and leapt like them, and soon my friends joined in. We were a happy team of froggies! Every summer at Grandma’s village, the big pond was alive. Frogs sang all day and night, especially after rain – it felt like a concert just for me. But last year, when I visited again, the pond was almost dry. No songs, no splashes, no frogs. Just silence. I miss my froggy friends. Where did they go? I wish they could come back and sing again. Maybe if we care for their homes, they will.”
“Hi Dr. Kriger,
The art contest enlightens lots of people including me to protect the little frogs and even other creatures in the world. I’m so honored to participate in this event and get the prize. I’m happy to share this event to my friends, and we’ll together protect our little friends!
Sincerely,
Grace Li”

2nd Place Winner:
Claire Chan – Singapore

3rd Place Winner:
Rolen Kate – South Korea
“When I draw, I usually follow what I’m interested in at the moment. Frogs, with their many colors and shapes, always inspire me and are fun to draw. They help me practice both color and form. I think the world would feel a little sad without these cute, colorful creatures. Lately, I’ve been focusing on combining different materials to create higher-quality artworks. In this piece, I used both watercolor and colored pencils to make the frog look more vivid and lifelike.
I started this drawing by imagining singing a song together with a frog. I pictured a frog jumping out of the music sheet to sing along. I wanted viewers to wonder whether the frog on the sheet is part of the drawing or something real. I painted the base with soft, watery watercolor tones and then added detailed textures using colored pencils. The frog becoming one with the melody on the music sheet is the key point of this piece.”

4th Place Winner:
Leanne Sng – Singapore
– Bukit Timah Primary School
– Let Color Soar Art School
“I really enjoyed creating this art because I got to use my imagination to make these frogs look like fancy gentlemen. I chose to draw them in a fun, funny way so that when people see the picture, they stop and look. If you stop and look, you start to care! I think the best part about SAVE THE FROGS! is that they use this contest to make everyone – kids and grown-ups – care about these little creatures. My artwork is my way of shouting: “Let’s save their habitats so they can keep their forest bar open!”
This artwork is completed with the use of colour pencils, markers and pastels. The different mediums allows me to show different texture in the drawing.”

5th Place Winner:
Ethelyn Zara Lim – Singapore
“Frogs are cute! This art piece is about saving the frogs. On the lower right hand corner, we can see frogs trapped between the tree branch with dirty bottles and cans while the other frogs are looking at them trying to save the trapped frogs from the branches. This tells us not to hurt the frogs as they are living creatures just like us. We should not litter too because they are good to our ecosystem and helps us control the insect population.”

“I really love frogs because they are so cute and also very important to the Earth. I learned that frogs help keep the environment healthy by eating bugs and by being part of the water and forest habitats. When frogs start disappearing, it means something is wrong with nature, and that makes me really sad. I also love making art, especially drawing frogs. I like to use bright greens and blues. Sometimes I draw frogs sitting on lily pads or wearing little crowns like frog princes. When I paint frogs, I feel calm and happy, almost like I’m part of their world. I think frogs are like tiny nature superheroes!”

“Frogs have always fascinated me because they represent such resilience in nature. Through my painting, I wanted to capture their beauty and remind people how important they are to our ecosystem. Creating this painting of a frog helps me share my love for painting with my appreciation for the environment and the goal to help protect these interesting and amazing creatures.”
