The Nature Study and Conservation Club (NSCC), from the Zoology Department of Jagannath University held an online educational event on April 30th, 2022. They are hosting a Save The Frogs Day event the second week of May 2022 at the Shatchari Government Primary School in the Habiganj District of Northeast Bangladesh. This is the only school near the Satchari National Park and students from all local communities including the indigenous Tipra community living inside the forest attend the school.
This event will be open to the public, with activities geared toward Shatchari Government Primary School students. Activities will include: a video documentary, demonstrations about the life history of amphibians with the help of a fun frog mascot, a presentation and interactive discussion session lead by Dr. Shayer Mahmood Ibney Alam concerning the status and conservation of amphibians, an art competition that aims to highlight five nationally threatened species of frogs, frog themed games for the children, and a rally to raise community awareness.
This event received funding through a Save The Frogs Day Grant in the amount of $300.
