Celebrating Amphibians with SAVE THE FROGS! Mexico

In the vibrant settings of Villahermosa, Tabasco, SAVE THE FROGS! Mexico and Habitat For The Future NGO came together to host an inspiring three-day Save The Frogs Day event dedicated to amphibian conservation and environmental education. This special occasion, which spanned from April 24 to April 26, 2024, was enriched by the enthusiastic participation of young minds eager to learn about the vital roles that frogs play in our ecosystem.

The event kicked off in local educational institutions with an engaging talk titled “Importance of Frogs in the World.” This session not only highlighted the ecological significance of frogs but also allowed attendees to interact through a Q&A segment, deepening their understanding of these fascinating creatures. The creativity flowed with an interactive mural-making activity, where participants illustrated their newfound knowledge about frogs.

The highlight of the celebration was on Save The Frogs Day, held at the Tomas Garrido Canabal natural park. The day was filled with activities aimed at raising environmental awareness. 280 attendees were treated to educational posters detailing the importance of frogs, a hands-on origami workshop titled “Create Your Frog,” and a captivating environmental poetry reading circle. 25 dedicated volunteers assisted with the three total events.

The events, funded by a SAVE THE FROGS! Grant of $700, proved to be a festival of knowledge, drawing the community together to appreciate and advocate for the conservation of amphibians. It underscored the ongoing commitment of SAVE THE FROGS! and its partners to fostering environmental stewardship among the next generation.
