  • Dickson Boma Wire Art 4Wire Frog Art - Borneo - Choti Singh and Kerry Kriger

    Frog Wire Art From Zambia

    $25.00

Handcrafted Frog Wire Art by Dickson Tembo

Discover the remarkable artistry of Dickson Tembo, an innovative artist from the Lower Lupande Game Management Area near South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Growing up in a region where illegal snaring—using wire traps to capture wildlife for bushmeat or trade—threatens countless animals, Dickson found a way to turn a destructive practice into an opportunity for positive change.

In 2016, Dickson began crafting intricate animal sculptures using discarded snare wire, combining his deep love for wildlife with his desire to educate his community and the world. Each piece of art demonstrates how materials once used for harm can be repurposed into symbols of hope and conservation.

This exclusive frog wire art was created specifically for SAVE THE FROGS!. Frogs play an essential role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, yet they are increasingly at risk from habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution. By crafting these frogs, Dickson not only highlights their importance but also contributes to their protection.

Through his art, Dickson strives to educate his community and the broader public about the importance of protecting wildlife, offering an alternative means of income for his region while raising awareness about the devastating impact of poaching. His journey serves as an inspiring example of how creativity and determination can transform challenges into solutions.

    Key Features:

    Thank you!”

  • Sale! Onyx Frog Sculptures

    Onyx Frog Sculptures

Original price was: $35.00.Current price is: $30.00.

These onyx frogs originate from beautiful stone found in the Balochistan Province of western Pakistan. The frogs were cut, lathe-turned and polished by skilled artisans in Pakistan. Onyx is formed from dissolved carbonate minerals (usually calcite) when limestone or dolomite sediments come into contact with hot water. Heat from recent volcanic activity causes this hydrothermal alteration and the dissolved minerals are then precipitated when these fluids reach the surface. Precipitated carbonates from these hydrothermal solutions are called “flowstone,” or travertine, as well as onyx. These frogs are cut from banded onyx. Red, green, orange and brown colors result from small amounts of impurities present, making every carving unique. These beautiful onyx frog carvings were generously donated to SAVE THE FROGS! by Nature’s Own in Boulder, Colorado. We appreciate Nature’s Own support of frog conservation and their support of a wide array of environmental efforts. WE CAN ONLY SHIP THESE ONYX FROGS TO ADDRESSES IN THE USA!
