With less than a week before the SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Expedition, our team around the world has been busy preparing for our rigorous frog-saving campaigns in West Africa. To our dismay, we received terrible news last night from our friends in Ghana.
While suffering from malaria, SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Executive Director Gilbert Adum reported to us that a fire has devastated much of the Sui forest, which is the last known location of the critically endangered Giant Squeaker Frog, Arthroleptis krokosua.
“Some sad news: fire gutted much part of the Sui forest and local people have taken advantage to encroach the more. It left all of us really sad and I now strangely I am beginning to dread if we can save Giant Squeaker Frog. Good that you are coming so that together we can take a concrete step.” – SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Executive Director Gilbert Adum
With fewer than 28 known individuals remaining, it will take a monumental effort to save the Giant Squeaker Frog and restore its degraded habitat. Besides SAVE THE FROGS! and SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana, no organization, government or individual is actively working to save these frogs from extinction. However, with your support the SAVE THE FROGS! Expedition Team will be able to develop a successful conservation initiative to reverse the damage done to the forest and save the remaining the Giant Squeaker Frogs.

With your help, we will Save the Squeaker Frogs and much more!
The SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Expedition will bring together an international team of six amphibian experts for the most significant amphibian conservation initiative in Ghana’s history.
For 17 days our expedition team will travel throughout Ghana:
(1) Conducting educational programs;
(2) Searching for endangered rainforest frogs;
(3) Restoring habitat for Giant Squeaker Frogs and other endangered amphibians;
(4) Exchanging knowledge with Ghanaian biologists; and
(5) Working to improve and accelerate amphibian conservation efforts in Ghana.
The SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Team has spent many hours and thousands of dollars restoring Giant Squeaker Frog habitat, but fire has greatly set back their efforts.
Dedicated SAVE THE FROGS! supporters have helped us raise $18,711 to complete our frog-saving activities in Ghana. However, we still need to raise an additional $11,261 to reach our goal of $29,972. You have the opportunity to further spread the impact of our efforts by placing a tax-deductible donation today that will increase our ability to save the Giant Squeaker Frog and further empower a nation to protect nature and wildlife.
