SAVE THE FROGS! Mexico, led by biologist David Montiel, had an exciting and impactful second half of 2024, engaging communities across Tabasco, Mexico in a variety of environmental education and conservation activities. Through interactive workshops, creative performances, and hands-on experiences in nature, the group has empowered people of all ages to take action for amphibians and their habitats.
Among the highlights was a series of environmental education talks held in schools and public spaces, where students and community members learned about the crucial role of amphibians in ecosystems and the urgent need to protect them. Participants also explored the world of scientific illustration, learning to accurately depict amphibians and their natural surroundings—a creative way to connect art with conservation.
One of the most exciting experiences was the ecotour in Villahermosa, where participants ventured into Saraguato Ecological Park for an amphibian observation tour. This guided experience provided a firsthand look at the incredible diversity of frogs in their natural habitat while emphasizing the importance of preserving these fragile ecosystems. Additionally, theater and workshops played a key role in spreading awareness, with a special performance highlighting the struggles of amphibians and how we can all contribute to their protection.
Through these events, SAVE THE FROGS! Mexico continues to inspire and mobilize people to protect amphibians and their environments.
