Save The Frogs Day 2024 in Hetauda, Nepal
Save The Frogs Day 2024 was successfully celebrated at Banshagopal Secondary School in Hetauda-6, Makwanpur, Nepal. The event engaged 7th-grade students in a series of interactive and educational activities focused on amphibian conservation. Organized over two sessions on April 28th, the event aimed to raise awareness about the ecological importance of frogs, the threats they face, and the actions needed to protect them. This initiative was made possible through SAVE THE FROGS! Grant of $229 to Grantee Aabhash Kaphle of the Institute of Forestry Hetauda Campus, Tribhuvan University, which supported the program’s educational materials and prizes for student participants.

Event Details
The first session of the Save The Frogs Day event featured an informative session where students learned about the role of frogs in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Through engaging PowerPoint presentations and colorful posters, they explored the various threats amphibians face, including habitat destruction, pollution, and climate change. The session provided students with a deeper understanding of why amphibians are crucial to the environment and how their conservation benefits both wildlife and humans.
In the second session, an essay writing competition encouraged students to express their thoughts on the theme “Frogs and Their Importance in the Environment.” This activity allowed participants to reflect on what they had learned and articulate the significance of conservation efforts. The five best essays were recognized with SAVE THE FROGS! T-shirts and school supplies, while all students who participated received stationery as a token of appreciation and encouragement to continue engaging in environmental initiatives.
The event was met with enthusiasm not only from students but also from teachers, who expressed their gratitude for bringing such an important topic into the classroom. Educators emphasized the need for more conservation programs and encouraged organizers to return in the future. The success of Save The Frogs Day 2024 at Banshagopal Secondary School highlights the power of education in inspiring young minds to take an active role in protecting amphibians and their habitats.
The event also received media coverage, further spreading the message of amphibian conservation to a wider audience.
