Save The Frogs Day 2025 in Kolkata, India at Rahara Nibedita Art Centre
SAVE THE FROGS! India is pleased to be spreading amphibian awareness throughout Kolkata and West Bengal. We celebrated the 17th Annual Save The Frogs Day with enthusiasm and purpose at Rahara Nibedita Art Centre on May 4th, 2025. Organized by art teacher Apurba Banerjee and the Centre’s dedicated team, the event brought together 40+ students, artists, and environmentalists to celebrate amphibians through art and education.

The program featured an arts and crafts camp, student recitations, and a seminar titled “Sound and Colour of Different Frogs”, presented by two distinguished guests: SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger (USA) SAVE THE FROGS! India President Sarbani Nag (India). This was Dr. Kriger’s second visit to the centre (his first was in 2018). The Centre has a long-standing commitment to amphibian conservation and has actively participated in the SAVE THE FROGS! Art Contest since 2010.

Other highlights included a quiz on frogs, prize distribution for creative entries, and a flute performance by Dr. Kriger featuring a traditional north Indian melody. Winners of the arts and crafts competition were gifted with the story book “Byang Byangachir Diary” written by Sarbani Nag. The book is aimed at children and has facts about frogs and beautiful artwork.
Other highlights included a quiz on frogs, prize distribution for creative entries, and a flute performance by Dr. Kriger featuring a traditional north Indian melody. The event also linked virtually with a parallel camp in Jalpaiguri, North Bengal, enabling broader participation and reaching an additional 30 students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the Indian National Anthem.

By combining artistic expression with scientific knowledge, the program helped deepen the student’s appreciation for amphibians and encouraged meaningful action for their protection. The event was free to attend and furthered the Centre’s mission to bring art to students of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds, helping them attain enjoyment and career advancement…all while spreading amphibian awareness.
