Introduction

SAVE THE FROGS! has led multi-day ecotours to the world’s most incredible frog habitats since 2013. In an effort to assist dedicated frog conservationists in attending these tours, we are offering a limited amount of financial aid, which can cover the price of the tour and/or airfare.

We currently have funds available for:
– SAVE THE FROGS! Borneo Ecotour (October 2024; tour begins and ends at Kota Kinabalu International Airport BKI.
– SAVE THE FROGS! Peninsular Malaysia Ecotour (November 2024; tour begins and ends in Kuala Lumpur International Airport KUL.

How It Works

Applicants will answer three questions:

(1) How much financial aid do you need?
(2) Why do you want to attend?
(3) Which tour do you wish to attend?

Financial Aid

We need to know the precise amount of assistance you require, in US Dollars ($USD). Do not guess a number; do the math and explain how you arrived at that number. We do not like vague, unclear budgets.

The tour price is shown clearly on the ecotour’s webpage. The tour price includes all food, lodging, park entrance fees and guiding from the time we pick you up at the airport through the time we drop you off.

You will need to research how much it will cost to get from your home city to the tour location. We can potentially assist with one night of hotel stay so you can arrive a day early to prevent issues with flight delays.

Example 1:
You can pay your own airfare but only have $3,500 for the $5,000 Borneo Ecotour. You would request $1,500.

Example 2:
You require $700 roundtrip airfare and can only pay $100 for the $4,195 Peninsular Malaysia Ecotour. You would request $4,795 ($4,095 + $700).

NOTE WELL:
The more you ask for, the less likely you are to receive it. For example, if you ask for $500, it is easy for us to say yes; whereas if you ask for $5,000 it is much harder for us to say yes.

That being said, you can ask for any amount you realistically require. But if you ask for a lot, you better give us ample reason to say yes to you, which you would do by telling us…

Why You Want To Attend

Reasons for wanting to attend can vary from “I like to travel” or “the trip sounds fun”, to a thorough discourse on how this tour has the potential to change your life and your career trajectory.

The more money you ask for, the more you need to demonstrate that this tour will help you become the type of amphibian conservationist that can significantly advance the mission of SAVE THE FROGS! (which is to protect amphibian populations and to promote a society that respects and appreciates nature and wildlife). In other words, will a SAVE THE FROGS! investment in your ecotour opportunity actually help frogs and the SAVE THE FROGS! Community? Will the world be better off because you attended this tour?

If you join a SAVE THE FROGS! ecotour, would you be posting about it to the outside world, via social media, website, etc? If so, let us know in your application. We do like our supporters getting the word out.

How To Apply

First off, do NOT apply unless…

(1) You can leave the rest of your life behind for the 10+ days it takes you to fly to the tour, attend the tour and get home.

(2) You can get out of your family and work commitments.

(3) You have (or can acquire in time) a passport and any required visa for the destination country.

(4) You have familiarized yourself with the Ecotourists Code of Conduct and can abide by it.

In other words, ensure you can actually attend if granted the funds you request.

Application Deadline

All applications must be received by Monday September 30th, 2024 at 11:59pm Los Angeles time. No late applications will be accepted for any reason.

Decisions will be sent by Thursday October 3rd, 2024.
