SAVE THE FROGS! Travel Grants assist early career conservationists who require financial assistance to travel to professional conferences, educational trainings or field sites.

The total amount of disbursements each year is based on the financial support received from the SAVE THE FROGS! community, so we encourage and appreciate donations to SAVE THE FROGS!.

Funding Amount

SAVE THE FROGS! Travel Grants generally average US$500.

You can request up to US$750.

Timeline

Grant applications can be submitted during the February 1 – March 1 application period, or during the September 1 – October 1 application period.

Decisions will be announced approximately April 1st and November 1st.

Funds to winners will be disbursed within 14 days of us receiving your funds transfer info.

Final reports should be submitted to SAVE THE FROGS! within 14 days of completing travel.

Grantwriting Tip:
Don’t wait until the last minute to plan your travel…when it could take six weeks to receive the funding you seek.

What We Do And Do Not Fund

What we do and do not fund is clearly described on the SAVE THE FROGS! Grants page. We suggest you read it prior to applying.

As a brief summary, we fund projects that demonstrate a clear benefit to the conservation of amphibian populations. Projects could be centered around research, education, policy, and/or habitat. If your project is scientific research, how will you translate your science into action? Be sure to explain in your application.

Specific to Travel Grants:

Travel grants can be used to fund transportation costs, lodging cost, park/reserve entry fees and conference registration.
Please re-read the sentence above!
We do not fund meals.
Conference funding will only be granted to applicants who will be speaking, and whose application to present has been approved by the event organizers/
Please include a SAVE THE FROGS! logo in your presentation.

Eligibility

Travel Purpose

Your travel must relate to amphibian conservation.
If you are visiting a field site, you must tell us how your fieldwork benefits amphibians.
If you are attending a training, you must tell us how your training will increase your likelihood of being a successful amphibian conservationist.
If you are attending a conference you must be an active participant (e.g. speaker; workshop leader).

WITHIN THE USA & OUTSIDE THE USA

Grants may be given to individuals or organizations within the USA.
Outside the USA, grants will only be given to nonprofit organizations (e.g. NGO) or official educational organizations (e.g. school or university). Do not apply from outside the USA unless you are affiliated with a nonprofit or educational organization who would serve as the grant recipient.

OFFICIAL MEMBERS OF SAVE THE FROGS!

The applicant must be an official member of SAVE THE FROGS!.
There are two ways to become a member:
- Visit the SAVE THE FROGS! Memberships page and set up a recurring monthly or annual donation to SAVE THE FROGS!; or
- Apply for a SAVE THE FROGS! Scholarship to get your membership fully covered (no cost).
Membership has a variety of benefits, so if you care enough about frogs to apply for a grant, you should definitely become a member…plus you must be a member to be eligible for any SAVE THE FROGS! Grant.

The Details Matter

Please note that:

SAVE THE FROGS! is capitalized (ALL CAPS), plural (FROGS, not FROG) and has an exclamation point (!).
Save The Frogs Day is Title Case with no exclamation point, and uses plural (Frogs, NOT Frog).

About Your Budget

Do not submit a poorly prepared budget. Take 15 minutes to watch the budget discussion that begins at 47:20 into the February 20th, 2024 SAVE THE FROGS! Grants Discussion. Don’t make us guess how funds will be spent. Don’t have math errors. Don’t estimate or guess how much items cost. Do your research and request precise amounts, for necessary items that are clearly explained and are needed to accomplish the types of projects of interest to SAVE THE FROGS!.

Ready To Apply?

We are pleased that you are interested in protecting amphibian populations and promoting a society that respects and appreciates nature and wildlife! Once you apply for funds, you can expect a decision within 28 days.

Remember: not all proposals will be funded, but the best ones likely will be, so be sure to submit your most well-crafted proposal.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to clearly describe your project, the benefits to amphibian conservation, and how travel funds would be spent.
